Services set for CC Regent Delbert Robertson
Posted By: Ashlee Estlack - 1/26/2017 6:48:35 PM

Funeral services for CC Regent Delbert Robertson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, January 30, in the Harned Sisters Fine Arts Center auditorium.

Mr. Robertson passed away Thursday, January 26.

He was was appointed to fill an unexpired term in 1962 at the age of 28 and was later elected to his own full term in 1964.  He dedicated more than 54 years of his life to service Clarendon College.

In an interview in 2014, he said what he enjoyed most about serving was the chance to enable some form of higher education in the community.  Also, providing the local kids with an opportunity to improve themselves that they may not otherwise have.  He also said he enjoyed making sure the taxpayers were getting a fair product for a fair price.

Mr. Robertson was a board member of steady leadership and quiet reflection who saw the college thru a large part of its history. He was a respected member of the board and helped guide the College from less than 100 students taught from one building to over 1,400 students at four campuses.

He worked with more than a half dozen presidents during his time on the Clarendon board and helped shape Clarendon College into the present day college it is.  He was involved in the purchase of land and construction of the home campus, saw the College expand the taxing district from just the city limits to all of Donley County, and then later when voters in Gray and Childress counties passed two branch campus maintenance taxes.

Mr. Robertson will be missed by everyone in the Bulldog Nation.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
