Associate in Science

Thank you for your interest in the Biology and Pre-Professional Health Programs at Clarendon College. This website has been developed to provide you with information necessary to make a decision about your educational future. It is our hope that Clarendon College will be your choice.

The faculty and staff of the biology department are dedicated to providing you with the knowledge, skills, and professional ethics that will serve as a foundation as you pursue your future. Our goal for you as a student is to graduate with the knowledge base that will allow you to succeed upon transfer to a four-year college or university or to a school of allied health or health sciences.

Students will want to decide upon a major or a field of study that best fits their career plans. In general, all Biology and Pre-Professional Health students will work toward an Associate in Science from one of the following Degree Plans:

BIOLOGY AND PROFESSIONAL HEALTH

(Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental)

This degree plan is designed for students who plan to pursue a degree in Biology or a program in a pre-professional health area at a senior college or university after completing their studies at Clarendon College.

ALLIED HEALTH

This degree plan is designed for students who plan to enter a health career such as Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technologists (MT) or Laboratory Scientists (CLS)), Communication Disorders, or Occupational Therapy. The prerequisite or pre-professional phase of these programs normally consists of 60 to 90 semester hours of pre-professional coursework before a student is admitted to the professional level in a School of Allied Health or Health Sciences.

NURSING

This degree plan is designed for students who plan to transfer to a senior college or university offering a four-year program leading to a bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN).

PHYSICAL THERAPY

This degree plan is designed for students who plan to transfer to a senior college or university offering a program leading to a degree in physical therapy.
