Should I consider taking an internet course?

Internet courses provide exciting opportunities for students who can't attend traditional classes because of time schedules, location, or other factors. This makes distance learning very attractive to students. However, taking an on-line course is not for everyone. Some students register for an internet class thinking it will be easier than the same course taken in a traditional manner since they don't have to attend class. But it IS NOT EASIER! In fact, an internet course will very likely take as much or more time than taking the same course in the traditional manner.

Internet courses are designed for students who:

  • are computer and internet/email literate
  • have virus protected computer access to the Internet and to an email account
  • have met college entrance requirements
  • are good at following written directions
  • are self motivated
  • like to work independently
  • are good at meeting deadlines
