ENGL 2332 – World Literature I

Prerequisite: English 1302

Course description: A study of the masterpieces of Western World Literature from the Ancient Greeks through the Renaissance. This course partially satisfies the requirements for the Associate degree at Clarendon College and is designed for transfer to a senior college or university.

Course objectives:

·         explore and discuss the literature from the Classics through the Renaissance

·         develop critical thinking skills by writing three essay tests

·         an analytical paper.

·         apply the different eras of literature to modern life

·         demonstrate an understanding of literature as an expression of individual and human values

·         construct written analyses of literary works based on research about and selection of appropriate themes of literary criticism

·         read literature and write a critical analysis of it

·         articulate through written and oral assignments an appreciation of diversity

This class is taught on the main campus.
