Personalized Learning Designer (PLD)

Create and use PLD rules to improve interaction with students.

Examples of PLD Rules:

·        Send automatic pop-up messages to students on their screen when a specified condition has occurred.
Example: Have pop-up message appear the first time a student logs into your course each day (until you disable it).

·        Automatically send student to a resource or practice exercise if they received a no passing grade on an activity.

Messages Feature

Basic features of the Messages feature

Use Class List block to message a single student

Send a message to all or multiple students

Find unread messages sent to you

Delete messages or students from messages window

Separate former and current students in Messages window.

Send message to “at risk” students through the Exception report

Send message to students within a specific grade range on a graded activity

Issue: Students have blocked you from sending messages to them

Enable/disable sending messages to your email

More Communication Suggestions

Contact students who haven’t logged in

See Students’ schedules in Faculty Portal

Use Zoom right within your course. Save time having to set up a new meeting every time you need to “zoom.”

Ways to use groups once you have created them

Allow high school facilitators to see only their own students’ grades, reports, etc. (other information under Dual Credit Information heading below)

Prevent certain groups from seeing an entire section of the course.

Allow only online students to take an online quiz. Face-to-face students take quiz in classroom

Use Assignment activity for groups

Use Open Forum for groups

Create “groupings” that combine different groups to work on a task together.

See group members in Participants list.

Send message to a specific group.

Grade by groups.
