Our Story

For 125 years, Clarendon College has been the Athens of the Panhandle. Education, sports, and the arts allow young men and women to succeed through our academic, agricultural, and athletic traditions. But Clarendon College is more than a school; it is the heart of our community.

The Harned Sisters Fine Arts Center is the cultural hub of the Clarendon community. It is the only place large enough to host substantial community gatherings: elementary Christmas programs, high school graduations, veterans' programs, town halls, emergency meetings, and funerals.

Time has taken its toll on the Harned Sisters Fine Arts Center. The chairs that have supported us through these moments are worn and weary. They have carried generations of college students, children, parents, grandparents, and friends— and they need replacing. Our community deserves a welcoming, comfortable space to continue assembling for the milestones that define us.

Each chair costs $500.

During the Panhandle Gives campaign, November 24–December 2, you have the chance to help us renew this space. By donating, you are investing in the future of Clarendon College, in the strength of Donley County, and in the unity of the Texas Panhandle. Every gift ensures that the Harned Sisters Fine Arts Center remains a place where we all thrive, where our community can continue to come together for generations to come.

Help us honor our legacy and build a brighter future. Together, we can keep Clarendon College the Athens of the Panhandle.
