Transfer Information

Transfer Information

If you're interested in transferring from Clarendon College to a two or four-year college or university the key to success is planning ahead.  Here are a few basic steps to follow when planning to transfer.

1. Have a plan. What career/major are you pursuing? Which colleges/universities have reputable programs in your field of study?

2. Research your college/university. Transfer guides, degree plans, academic calendar, deadlines, orientation dates are available on most college/university websites. Know your program. Contact an advisor or transfer rep with questions.

3. Look at the required GPA for transfer students on the college/university website- for both the school and the major. Then, check your current GPA in the Clarendon College student portal to see where you stand.

4. Apply to the college/university. Be prepared to pay an application fee. Many schools ask that you apply through ApplyTexas ( .

5. Have an official transcript sent to the college/university from every college you’ve attended, including dual credit. To request an official CC transcript:

  • December graduates- send your CC transcript to your next school early in September, and send another one at the end of the fall semester when grades have been posted.
  • May graduates- send your CC transcript to your next school in late January, and send an another one at the end of the spring semester when grades have been posted.

6. Add your new school to your FAFSA application on the FAFSA website (

7. Apply for scholarships at the college/university. Check their website to see what they offer.

8. Take care of housing. If you will be living on campus, see if a housing deposit is required and the deadline to apply for housing. Living on campus provides more opportunity to meet and socialize with other students.

9. Check and re-check your admission status. It is up to you to submit the documents they require.
