This class is the didactic and clinical portion of a program that leads to the CPT National Examination of Phlebotomy Technician.  Phlebotomists are trained to draw blood samples by venipuncture, or arterial collection for medical tests and blood donations.  Phlebotomists must adhere to strict policies and procedures while treating the patient with care.  Length of clinical depends on individual scheduling and attendance.

This course will prepare the student to take the National Certification Exam for certification.


Students must take an adult basic education test.

Students must take a 10 panel UA drug screen. Students are responsible for the cost of the drug screen and must be completed prior to the first day of class.

Students attending this class must complete the State of Texas immunization requirements.  Immunizations:  You must provide documentation of the following immunizations prior to registering for Phlebotomy. All immunizations must be current including: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) must have been administered within the last ten years, Measles (two doses), Rubella (two doses), Mumps (two doses), Completed Hepatitis B Series (three doses), and Varicella (chickenpox- two doses), Current Negative TB Test (within one year) and flu (during flu season:  October – May), as specified by the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 7, Subchapter B, Rule 97.64

Students must also be 18 years of age or older to attend this class.  GED or High School diploma is required.  Criminal Background by
