Certified Nurse Assistant/Aide (CNA)
Nurse Aides assist in the care for the ill or injured by providing basic nursing skills and personal care. Nurse Aides perform patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses. They have a broad range of duties including bathing, walking, feeding patients, making beds, assisting patients in and out of bed, dressing, helping patients with range of motion and activities of daily living. They may provide skin care and observe patient’s physical, mental and emotional well-being
Clarendon College’s curriculum is approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to teach the skills necessary for work in a long-term care facility, hospitals, and home health agencies. Instruction includes lecture, lab and clinical training in an approved facility. Students must be over 16 years of age and be able to read, write and speak English.
Uniforms will be required at the expense of the student.
This course will prepare the student to take the Texas Registry Exam for certification.
Prerequisite
CONTINUING EDUCATION Apply to the college by filling out continuing education form and paying the required tuition.
PROPER ID: Student must present copies of photo ID (current driver's license) and Social Security card.
DRUG SCREEN: Students must take a 10 panel UA drug screen. The student is responsible for the cost of the drug screen. Drug screens must be completed prior to the first day of class and performed at Prestige Drug Screening. Their contact Information is:

IMMUNIZATIONS: You must provide documentation of all immunizations prior to attending classes. All immunizations must be current including a current Negative TB Test (within one year of start of program) and flu (during flu season: October – May), as specified by the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 7, Subchapter B, Rule 97.64
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services requires that student trainees have not been convicted of a criminal offense listed in Texas Health and Safety Code, 250.006. You will be required to complete a background check in sufficient time for it to be reviewed by the college prior to your first day of class. A background check typically takes 3-5 normal business days to complete. Students are responsible for the cost of the background verification.
