Q. What are Dual Credit Courses?

A. Clarendon Colleges’ Dual Credit program offers qualified high school (or homeschooled) students an opportunity to earn college credit while completing high school requirements.

 

 Q. What are theTesting Requirements for Dual Credit?

A. Texas Success Initiative ((TSI) requires that all students attending a public college or university test or be exempt from testing to prove college readiness. Test exemptions are based on ACT scores, SAT scores, or EOC scores.

 

Q. Who Can Enroll?

A. To enroll in Dual Credit a student must:

  • Apply and be accepted to Clarendon College and
  • Comply with Texas Success Initiative testing requirements.
  • Meet established entrance requirements at Clarendon College as well as appropriate prerequisites for any course including testing requirements..
  • Pay the cost associated with taking a college course(s) as established by contractual agreement.

 

Q. What Dual Credit Courses are offered?

A. Dual Credit Courses are offered in a variety of subject areas including math, science, English, economics, history, government and a wide variety of technical courses. Dual Credit courses are taught either at the college or at the high school. Courses are taught by college faculty or by qualified high school instructors who meet the same criteria as college faculty. If you are interested in a Dual Credit course, check with your high school counselor for a complete list of available courses. Dual Credit academic courses are transferable to all Texas public colleges and universities and to most private and out-of-state institutions.


Core curriculum will transfer to any Texas public university. It is the student's responsibility to verify course transferability with the institution they plan to attend.

 

Q. Can I Complete An Associate's Degree By The Time I Graduate High School?

A. It is possible for a high school student to complete the courses needed for an associate's degree while in high school. In order for students to complete the 60 credit hours needed for an associate's degree, they must start early and be diligent. Please contact the College at (806) 874-4837 for more information. 


Q. How Do I Transfer My Dual Credit Courses To The College/University I Plan to Attend?

A. You can use this link to request your transcripts be sent to your new institution.

 

Q. Can I Take Dual Credit Courses In The Summer Or During A Mini-Term?

A. Dual Credit Courses are only offered in the two long semesters (fall semester and spring semester).  However, dual credit students can enroll in summer or mini-term classes at Clarendon College once they have met the admissions requirements for the courses desired.  Tuition and fees are charged at the regular college rate.  There is no Dual Credit discount or special dual credit rate for summer or mini-term classes or any other classes not designated as dual credit.
